Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Kigali City Tour – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional driver-guide. After freshening up, you will embark on a fascinating city tour of Kigali exploring the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Rwanda’s most significant historical site. This powerful and deeply moving memorial honours the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. Through exhibits, video testimonies, and preserved mass graves, you will gain insight into Rwanda’s painful past, its path to recovery, and its commitment to peace and reconciliation. Next, you will head to Kimironko Market, one of Kigali’s busiest and most colourful local markets. While here, you may interact with local vendors, browse vibrant stalls filled with fresh produce, fabrics, crafts and Rwandan souvenirs.  From here, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before setting off on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park. Along the way, you will take in the stunning landscapes of Rwanda’s rolling hills and fertile valleys. Upon arrival at your lodge near the park, you will check in, enjoy dinner and prepare fir the exciting day ahead.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking – Iby’Iwacu Cultural Visit

You will start your day early with a hearty breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for your gorilla trekking briefing. Accompanied by expert trackers and guides, you will embark on a trek through the dense bamboo forests and misty hills in search of the mountain gorillas. Once you locate them, you will spend one magical hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat – an experience that is humbling and awe inspiring. After the trek, you will return to your lodge for lunch and some rest. Later, you will visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village – Rwanda’s most visited and authentic cultural site near the Volcanoes National Park. Here, you will engage with former poachers who have transformed into conservation advocates. You will also immerse yourself in the traditional Rwandan Culture through their traditional Intore dance performances, a demonstration of banana beer brewing, story telling and cultural interaction with local leaders.  This cultural visit offers a deeper understanding of Rwanda’s commitment to preserving its natural heritage. You will then return to your lodge for dinner and a restful overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Kigali International Airport

Following breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and begin your transfer back to Kigali. On your way, you will enjoy the scenic drive through Rwanda’s picturesque landscapes, reflecting on your unforgettable experiences. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a brief stop in Kigali for last-minute shopping or refreshments before being dropped off at Kigali International Airport for your onward journey.
